About Lynn Jaffee…

I have always been fascinated with natural health, and from the first time I had an acupuncture treatment, I was fascinated with that, too. I mean, how is it possible that a handful of needles placed in the right place can relieve your pain or calm your anxiety? It’s complicated and beautiful and based on teachings that are thousands of years old.

I have a master’s degree in Chinese medicine and have been a licensed practitioner of acupuncture (L.Ac.) since 2003. I love working with patients, but I also really like to talk about how this medicine works. As a result, I wrote the book, Simple Steps: The Chinese Way to Better Health, which is a clear and simple explanation of Chinese medicine for the lay person. This blog is a labor of love—not only of Eastern medicine, but also as a way to reach a greater audience than by connecting with one patient at a time.

After the illness and loss of my 28-year old son, I shifted my focus from treating patients in the clinic to writing. I currently maintain this blog and write web content for a number of other natural health care clients. I have also recently published the book Love Pain: Stories of Loss and Survival, which tells the story of miracles and finding strength in the face of tragic loss. I wrote it as a resource and a warm hug for anyone struggling to cope during difficult times.

If you want information about acupuncture, Chinese medicine, emotional health, and other healing topics, I hope you enjoy reading my posts and books. If you’re challenged by stringing together a couple of paragraphs in a row and need help writing, contact me.

Wishing you good health!

The Secret to Making Changes that Stick

A couple of weeks ago, I fell off the bottom step in my house. Actually, the problem was that I was on the second stair and thought I was on the bottom one. The upshot is that I went down pretty hard and my fall was broken by my ribs hitting a nearby doorjamb. After […]

Can’t Stand the Heat?

In Chinese medicine, there is a condition called Summerheat. It seems appropriate to write about it after we’ve had a string of 90 degree days here in Minnesota in late May and early June. I’ve only experienced Summerheat once, but it was memorable. It happened during my first backpacking trip down into the Grand Canyon […]

Day Tripping: Ten Ways to Avoid Falls

Over the past couple of years, I’ve discovered a new Murphy’s Law. It’s this: The older you are, the worse the outcome tends to be when you fall. Three years ago, I slipped on a patch of snow-dusted ice and broke my elbow. And three weeks ago, I stepped out the front door and fell. […]

Don’t Throw My Groceries

Not long ago, during a weekly grocery shopping trip, I had a weird thing happen. At the end of the trip in the checkout line, the cashier tossed my groceries toward me as I bagged. Sack of onions; scan, toss, plop. Head of lettuce; scan, toss, plop. Bag of slivered almonds; scan, toss, plop. And […]
